Research Projects
The increased importance of research into public safety and security in Europe over the last few years can be seen in the fact that “security” has been set as a topic for the first time in the Seventh Framework Research Programme of the European Commission (FRP 7).
The EU security-research programme is designed to promote the development of technologies and provide a scientific basis, upon which it will be able in future to protect European society and its citizens from such threats as terrorism, organised crime, natural catastrophes and industrial accidents.
At national level too, security is a subject of increasing importance. In 2007 the German Ministry of Education & Research launched its Security Research Programme designed to research the subject of security in its various aspects. The Ministry of Education & Research places great value on innovative technologies and scenario-based or user-based developments.
PSI Transcom GmbH has already participated in projects researching innovative communication with government authorities in crisis situations and integrated control centres for environmental monitoring and danger removal by government agencies (environmental control centre).
