ASFINAG Verkehrstelematik GmbH

The ASFiNAG Verkehrstelematik GmbH (Inzersdorf, Austria) plans, finances, maintains and manages the total Austrian highway system with a length of nearly 2.100 kilometres. For monitoring the telematics infrastructure in the ASFiNAG network and its traffic management and information centre in Vienna-Inzersdorf ASFiNAG has charged the PSI AG with the implementation of the Operations Monitoring System (OMS).

ASFiNAG Verkehrstelematik GmbH The aim of the project is to monitor all the ASFiNAG telematics facilities, to assure their functionality at all times and to manage any scheduled or unscheduled maintenance work from its initiation up to the invoicing. The PSI AG qualified itself for the ASFiNAG Verkehrstelematik GmbH contract in a two-stage, European-wide bidding process. The contract includes the production of the Operations Monitoring System (OMS), which records the status of all the outside equipment and the corresponding communication infrastructure for the entire country and displays this at the headquarters in Inzersdorf. Maintenance crews and the infrastructure are then managed from headquarters, regardless of whether it is a matter of an event-triggered, unscheduled or a scheduled action. The PSImcontrol, a software system from PSI AG that has proven itself in many control projects over the years, will be used to monitor the outside equipment and the communication infrastructure. As in the segment for the transfer and distribution of electrical energy, traffic telematics is a matter of spatially distributed automation equipment which places demands on the control centre that far exceed the norm.

As an integral part of the total solution, the workflow system PSIcommand will handle the management and coordination and monitoring and invoicing of activities. In this way, the service providers which are responsible for the maintenance of the outside equipment will be as well informed about the status and progress of their orders as is the ASFiNAG Verkehrstelematik GmbH headquarters, which will be able keep track of the current status of all the work in progress.

PSI is in the position to meet all the ASFiNAG Verkehrstelematik GmbH requirements for this project on its own. The contract represents an important strategic step for the PSI Manufacturing business, which is specialized in equipment monitoring.
