Information Management in Safety Critical Situations
PSI Transcom GmbH can assist organisations and authorities responsible for public safety and security, both regional and national, by providing the very best IT solutions which are already widely used in industry and public service.
PSI solutions provide consolidated information from a very wide range of input systems, e.g. geo-information and environmental readings, to ensure rapid and reliable reaction in counteracting dangers. Many of these specialised information systems are already in use by public safety authorities and organisations: for example environmental agencies provide readings on river levels or water quality, whilst other specialist information systems model the dispersal of hazardous substances and identify risk zones. Such information must be available to staff rapidly and reliably so that the crisis can be managed.
The PSI system presents information based on a technology which understands the organisational division of labour and which supports and links danger-counteraction processes in an integrated way. It is flexible and needs little additional management. An additional benefit is that collaboration between different institutions is permanently improved.
This has many advantages:
- Existing applications can be fully integrated
- A common uniform system interface facilitates communication between staff
- Rapid reaction is possible to situation changes
- Data and information can be available to all departments, institutions and people involved, without any special supply procedures
- Incorporation of web service
- Integration in spatial data infrastructure (SDI)
- Data and current information can be processed automatically to indicate the situation
- The public can be informed through publication on the internet or by video text
- The functions of specialist information systems are available irrespective of where the specialist departments are located
- All tasks are managed on the basis of joined-up, current information
- It is possible to monitor the functioning of the measurement network
- It is possible to incorporate mobile workplaces and measurement stations
The solution is based on standard database technology, is platform-independent, and has a web-based user interface.
