Stuttgarter Straßenbahnen AG
For over 140 years Stuttgarter Straßenbahnen AG (SSB) has been helping people get around in Stuttgart, thus ensuring that this German state capital can function properly and its citizens enjoy a high quality of life.
On 365 days a year more than 430 buses and trams and around 2,700 staff members are engaged in transporting the approximately 970.000 people who live in the SSB's catchment area. The SSB runs 72 bus and tram lines for them, with a total length of over 900 kilometres. The project involves introducing the PSItraffic/Depot system at seven tram and bus depots and their sidings, with the possibility of extending it to include further depots. An additional feature of the system is its use of an RFID location-finding module, which is already used in proven and reliable vehicle location-finding systems. Its introduction SSB is the first time this module has been used to locate vehicles running on public transport.
