Driver information

Overview driver information terminal

The interface between driver and system is the driver information terminal. Drivers are displayed information relevant to them here, e.g. the next shift, the assigned vehicle and its position or even a preview of upcoming shifts. Dispatchers are notified of drivers arriving late for the beginning of their shift.

As a basic condition for the dialog between drivers and the depot management system, drivers must use their smartcard or enter their employee number for identification purposes. This ensures that each driver receives only the information which he/she actually requires and that the entries can be traced in the event of subsequent inquiries.

Driver information exchange is a bi-directional dialog. By logging on at a terminal, the beginning of a driver's shift is reported via an interface to the personnel time recording system. Drivers can display and print their next shifts, vehicles and parking positions. Internal information, such as the date of the next staff meeting or an opportunity for an in-house driver training program, is also displayed.

Prior to finishing their shifts, drivers can enter details of any defects found on their vehicle, and they can enter additional information on unusual events occurring in a log of the system. By logging off at a terminal, the end of a driver's shift is reported via an interface to the personnel time recording system.
