PSI Realizes New Production Execution System for ThyssenKrupp Stahl Standardized solution for seven plants on the basis of PSImetals

Berlin, 4 October 2004 – The ThyssenKrupp Stahl AG has charged the PSI-subsidiary PSI-BT with the replacement of the existing production execution systems (PES) at the Duisburg (Bruckhausen, Beeckerwerth, Duisburg-Süd plants), Dortmund, Bochum, Siegerland (Ferndorf/Eichen) and Finnentrop sites. The new, site-independent system is based on the modular software product PSImetals. In the course of the coming years it will replace the existing systems at the production stages hot rolling, cold rolling, refinement and finishing all the sites in the divisions automobile, industry and thick plate.

The goal of the renewal of all the production execution systems at ThyssenKrupp Steel is the harmonization of the production business processes at all the sites with a uniform system and application architecture. This objective is both a significant reduction of the operating and handling costs in the future PES environment as well as an improvement in the extension of the systems to meet additional demands.

PSI-BT further expands their position as a leading provider of software for the German steel industry. Internationally PSI is cooperating with companies such as SMS Demag and SAP in marketing the PSImetals software.

PSI AG develops and integrates individual solutions, on the basis of its own software, for the management of large networks (electricity, gas, oil, telecommunications, transport), cross-company production management (steel, chemicals, machinery, automotive, logistics) and information management for government and service providers. PSI was founded in 1969 and currently employs 1,150 persons in the group.
