PSI Wins Network Management Contract for E-Plus Microwave Equipment Multi vendor configuration management for the transport network

Berlin, 21 September 2004 – The mobile phone provider E-Plus Mobilfunk GmbH & Co KG has decided in favor of the PSIcomm software solution. The system, developed by Berlin’s PSI AG, allows the vendor-independent configuration and monitoring of the E-Plus microwave network. PSIcomm has already been successfully employed by various telecommunication providers for a number of years.

PSIcomm (Configuration Management for Microwave Equipment) provides a network element manger for various radio link systems from different vendors. All radio link systems are reproduced in a homogeneous view which is independent of the vendors or connection protocols. This makes the vendor-specific monitoring systems redundant and they can be removed or used elsewhere. In this manner PSIcomm allows more efficient operations. The open structure on the basis of the SUN Microsystems TMN allows for a flexible extension of the system.

PSIcomm can not only be effectively employed in cellular phone networks, but in wired networks as well. The compatibility with other vendors’ systems and technologies for the transport network is being continuously expanded. The contract from E-Plus comes at the right time for the PSI Telecommunication Business, due to the fact that this business suffered under the delays in contracting in the UMTS environment in the first six months of the year.

PSI AG develops and integrates individual solutions, on the basis of its own software, for the management of large networks (electricity, gas, oil, telecommunications, transport), cross-company production management (steel, chemicals, machinery, automotive, logistics) and information management for government and service providers. PSI was founded in 1969 and currently employs 1,150 persons in the group.
