• PSItraffic Depot Management
A clear overview of all processes

Our PSItraffic Depot Management System ensures optimal availability of personnel and vehicles!

Conventional systems and analog approaches quickly reach their limits. There are many reasons for this:

  • the diversification of your vehicle fleet

  • mapping and monitoring of charge levels and remaining ranges,

  • restrictions and constantly changing requirements for vehicle allocation,

  • specifications for achieving ecological goals, as well as resource scarcity.

In cases like these, our PSItraffic Depot Management System (DMS) is the solution you need. Our DMS enables reliable operation while complying with your specifications and requirements. The system ensures that your buses and trams are ready for daily operations and are dispatched for the correct journey. It monitors and controls all processes in your depots – from the arrival of the vehicles, to their supply, repair, and parking – efficiently and in a way that saves resources and costs. Our integrated, intelligent optimization for dispatching makes the best possible decisions in seconds and supports your dispatchers in case of operational deviations.

PSItraffic/DMS enables you to digitize your depot processes, establish a continuous, digital workflow and integrate all areas of your operations: the best way to begin mastering the many complex tasks in the depot.

You can get easy started with our basic system PSIeDMS start. You get all important basic functions and can expand the system step by step. This way, you keep complexity and project runtimes under control.

We also have the solution for your e-bus fleet!

Our Depot and charging Management System PSIebus integrates all e-Mobility Tasks in one System.

Integrated components for efficient planning and dispatching

From entering the depot to departure: PSItraffic/DMS models all of the processes at the depot and transparently presents the current operational, garage, driver and vehicle situations.

Vehicle tracking
Tracking by radio allows the identification of the vehicles promptly upon their arrival and departure, and the determination of their locations in the depot. Late arrivals and departures are reported as alerts or warning. Vehicle locations are displayed in the system for the dispatcher and for garage employees and form the basis of their work.

Automatic parking position assignment
Upon entering the depot, the driver receives information on where to park the vehicle for refuelling or sanding, for maintenance, cleaning or repair work, or for the next departure. Daily shunting is greatly minimised, thus saving time.

Dispatching garage and supply tasks
PSItraffic/DMS schedules garage and supply tasks, or acquires such information from a garage system (for example, SAP, Maximo, COSware), assigns vehicles to service stations, and informs the garage and service employees and documents all completed work.

Provisioning of driver information
PSItraffic/DMS informs drivers about their shift, the vehicle location and condition, either at terminals or via mobile phones. Simultaneously, the system informs dispatchers about the on-time departure from the parking position and the departure from the depot.

Quality management
PSItraffic/DMS gathers historical operating data, analyses it graphically and in reports, and in this way forms the basis for analyses and process optimisations.

Automatic vehicle and tour assignment
Vehicles are parked in the depot so that the right vehicles are available for all subsequent tours. If a vehicle is not operational, a new disposition is made in real-time. If a tour cannot be filled because there are not enough vehicles available, a vehicle shortage is immediately reported in the system, and the dispatcher can act promptly. The basis for all optimisations is the industry-proven technology Qualicision® from PSI.

Your benefits

Plan, control and monitor bus and tramway operations

  • Transparency at the depots
  • Vehicle parking and assignment in real-time based on Qualicision®
  • Improved vehicle availability
  • Reduction of the vehicle reserve
  • Optimised vehicle supply (cleaning, sanding, refuelling)

  • Optimised refuelling
  • Manual, semi or fully-automatic vehicle dispatching
  • Use of standard interfaces
  • Integration with AVMS (Automatic Vehicle Management System)
  • Integrated quality management system (Business Intelligence System)

Software architecture with maximum flexibility

High usability

Even complex processes must remain simple to control. This is why the design and usability of interfaces and dialogues represent a special challenge for us.

  • Clear menu structure
  • Graphical and table views
  • Individual customisations and views
  • Comprehensive navigation functions
  • Multi-language user interface

Integration and openness

The use of standard interfaces and the creation of new standards make the exchange of data with existing IT systems secure and stable.

  • Standard interfaces for journey and roster planning, for personnel deployment and for maintenance/ERP
  • Sections, switches and gate control
  • Tracking
  • Fuel data system, mileage tracking
  • Automatic vehicle management system (AVMS)

Optimisation with Qualicision - Dynamic, flexible and fast

The dispatching core applied for the DMS is based on PSI's optimisation software Qualicision, which finds a solution based on operational constraints within seconds.

The special feature of Qualicision is not only its outstanding speed and thus the possibility of cyclical use at short intervals, but also the consideration of various restrictions and qualitative criteria. These can have different effects depending on the time of day and be configured differently for different depots.

The core of the optimisation itself calculates a solution across all depots based on any restrictions and qualitative criteria. The optimisation automatically recognises vehicle bottlenecks and adapts the allocation. So non-detachable blocks will be far in the future and thus there is sufficient time to react, for example by vehicles being provided ahead of time by the workshop.
Restrictions and criteria can be switched on and off online or configured on a time-of-day basis. In addition weightings can be configured so that individual criteria have a higher degree of target achievement than others.

The optimisation module has been successfully used by our customers for many years and will be an integral part of the even more complex requirements for charge and load management of alternative drives in the future and will serve the objective to have autonomous trips in tram and bus depots.
